The world's highest slackline.
In November 2026, over Goa, a highline will be strung between two hot-air balloons at 5,000 metres and walked. If it holds, it is the highest slackline ever walked.
Two balloons. Seven attempt days, 27 November to 3 December. Fourteen people in the air across the entire window.
Why this is real
A stranger reading this should be sceptical. Here is what is actually in place.
The record already exists as a category
This is not a novel stunt invented to raise money. Balloon-to-balloon highlining is an established discipline with a standing world record: 2,500 metres, set by Friedi Kühne and Lukas Irmler over Riedering, Germany, on 9 November 2024. The target here is 5,000 metres — the same format, roughly double the altitude. The format is proven. The altitude is the hard part.
India's only balloon instructor is flying it
Capt. Kshetrimayum “Imo” Singh is Chief Pilot and Aviation Director for the attempt. He holds DGCA Balloon Flight Instructor Rating No. 01 — the first and, to date, only such rating issued in India. Launch and landing sites, flight envelope and go/no-go calls are his, not ours.
The Government of Goa is formally on board
The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, has issued a formal sanction order supporting the attempt, following a presentation to the Empowered Committee for Marketing & PR of the Goa Tourism Board in July 2026. Goa Tourism branding will carry on both balloon baskets. This is a state-backed event with a paper trail, not a private stunt.
Independent ratification
The attempt is being pursued as a Guinness World Records title, measured and ratified by the International Slackline Association, the sport's international federation, through its pre-attempt notification process. Nobody here decides whether the record counts. That is the whole point of ratifying it externally.
Who is walking it
Samar Farooqui is India's first professional slackliner and holds the national free-solo highline record. Since 2013 he has established roughly 90% of India's highline locations, founded the country's only highline festival, and represented India at the Urban Highline Festival in Poland. He sits on the Education Commission of the International Slackline Association, and is a certified skydiver and BASE jumper.
And it might not work
Weather can end an attempt, and it may be cancelled outright. The record may not fall at all. That risk is real, it is stated in the terms below, and it is not being dressed up. What you are backing is a serious attempt by qualified people — not a guaranteed outcome. The film gets made either way.
Two ways in
1. Take a seat in the balloon
INR 5,00,000 per seat, plus GST. Fourteen seats exist. Two per attempt day.
You are in the basket, in the air, during a live world record attempt. Your name carries a dedicated “special thanks” card in the documentary. Bank transfer preferred; cards and online payments accepted.
2. Put your name in the credits
Any amount, from INR 5,000. No flight, no minimum.
Your name appears in the supporters roll of the documentary. The money goes straight into putting the attempt in the air — the balloons, the rigging, the oxygen, the safety crew, the aviation clearances.
Things worth knowing before you commit
- Credit order is first come, first served. Names appear in the order money is received, not the order the flights take off. Your position is fixed the moment your funds land.
- Weather can end an attempt. It may be cancelled outright. We will do everything we can to move you onto another flight in the window. We cannot promise it.
- If the record falls early, we keep going as high as we can. Every booked flight still flies.
- 26 November is a closed trial day — a national record and practice run, crew only. No seats on it.
- This is not a charitable donation and is not eligible for any tax deduction. GST applies at prevailing rates and a tax invoice is issued. Companies, send your GSTIN.
- Seat holders: a safety briefing, medical declaration and liability waiver are required before you fly.
